For my best friend

Hello, how are you,

I finished my spring themed card today. I used 7 Dots Studio Nature Walk & Thoughts Keeper Papers. Must be my favourites from all the sets. Especially I like those yummy elements and element stickers.

At first I used some tissue paper (which is not seen anymore!) with Matte Gel Medium to start off. Then did stenciling, stamping (not seen too!!) and went with the flow - using paint splatters, inks, shimmer mists, chalk mists; did another stenciling with Tim Holtz Doily Stencil again, added metal gloss paint, did heat embossing ... added some string too!!
Then punched the corners, a few brads and stuck the page with double sided tape on the card. Some tulle with 3D Gloss Gel and beautiful Kaisercraft black roses on top. I added green shade for the roses with Inka-Gold Jade to cool that black colour down a bit. Done!

Peacocks galore

Hi, how are you,

I began to do another mixed media on canvas ... with a certain idea in mind but it changed during the process - typical in my case. But I like the final result! I wanted the elegant peacock feathers to be the heroes on my canvas though and I think I achieved that. I used 8 x 8 in canvas board for this project.

There're many layers underneath - tulle, stenciling with Graphite Texture Paste and peacock feathers too. Well, some extra texture ... does only good!;) Then decided I add a layer of Finnabair Micro Beads. Later on a Copper Crackle Paste. As I was after for some metallic look (or a lot!!) I used loads of Mica Powder Rust, Distress Paint (antiqued bronze), Silks Acrylic Glaze, Cosmic Shimmer Mists and again some Graphite Texture Paste with TCW Stencils. And Liquid Pearls Peacock too by using a brush.
I got a very nice effect with using Clear Texture Paste - when that was dry I went over with a dauber using StazOn Saddle Brown! Cosmic Shimmer Mists on top.
The feathers are adhered with 3D Gloss Gel & Matte Gel Medium. And of course aerosol High Gloss Varnish on top (except on the upper feathers) to seal it all in and for that extra shine!!

Childhood book

Hi again,
those mood boards at Scrap Around the World Blog are seriously addictive - in a good way of course!!! This month's mood board is by Terhi Koskinen. I got inspired mostly from the clean look, the chevron stripes, the twine and the yellow pic! I am not sure now about the clean look on my layout but anyways ... .;)

Here's my entry:

Some close ups:

All of the papers (and stickers) except the polka dots one and the poem print-out on my layout are from one book what my lovely friend sent me by post as a surprise. Thanks a million, again!!! It's Flow Book for Paper Lovers. They do magazine too actually. Never heard about them before. The book has more than 300 pages of paper goodies!!! Here are some pics of it:

I did a layout using the photo I made of one of my childhood book (published in 1985). A lot of memories with this book. I didn't go through these pages for a long time. I came across one beautiful poem in there: Your Grandmother. I still miss her dearly, would like to hug her strongly and listen to her wise words.
But ... this is life ... nobody is living forever in this life. But memories stay and that's good and comforting. So that poem made me quite sentimental because it's tells about how your grandmother was your childhood sunshine, that she was generous and kind and dear; that she taught you and fondled your head and that she is in the grave now and for you stayed the memory of her, the glow from her eyes ... .

It matches up about me and my grandma. So this layout is also about her too.

Left my paintbrushes alone this time. Used StazOn Ink with the TCW Chevron Stencil and stamps & Lindys Stamp Gang Ink Spray for the small splashes. Stamps by Artemio and Stampendeous. Everything else is basically cutting 'n' gluing!

Thanks for looking!

An art tile

Hello, how are you,
I couldn't miss the Creative Gym Exercise #5 of course. But I had hard time choosing what would I make. I knew I didn't want something with a large surface ... so an art tile got my vote. It's size is 13 x 13 cm. It has that metal hanger attached at the back already, so easier for me!!

As the tile was white matte I gave it a layer of black gesso to start off. Then a bit of Tulip Slick Black Dimensional Paint and used TCW Stencil with 3D Gloss Gel & Black Micro Beads on top. Some Pigment IZINK caviar too after drying. I didn't want to put a point for the black background with just this one. So, I mixed 3D Gloss Gel + Graphite Texture Paste + Glass Glitter Midnight Blue + Black Micro Beads + Reeves Black Acrylic Paint and I got one special paste (well the Glass Glitter and Micro Beads aren't really seen ... but it doesn't matter) for use with another TCW Stencil on top, to give some Moroccan vibe to my Art Tile!!

Isn't that gloss just lovely!

Now for all the rainbow colours I used different ink sprays, Pigment IZINK (my new favourite!) and Silks Acrylic Glazes. For those purple ,,corners,, I was mixing together 3D Gloss Gel, Tulip Slick Purple Dimensional Paint, Silks Acrylic Glaze Boysenberry, Finnabair Glass Glitter Midnight Blue, Stampendeous Royal Purple Crushed Glass Glitter and some Licorice Glass Beads. Yet again, it didn't really matter what colour Glass Glitter & Beads I put in there as the purple paint quite hides it but I can still see some and most of all ... I love the texture from the mix!!!;)

Some Doodlebug Jewels, enamel dots and one small metal rose for the final touches. Then I sprayed W&N High Gloss Varnish on top and on the sides so it would have that glossy glaze, like tiles usually have.

It's very busy and rich tile and that's the way I like it!! Hope you like it too!

I also want to enter this to Rhedd's Creative Spirit March Challenge.

Thanks a lot for popping in,
