Another present

It is that time of the year again when the kids are just about to finish up their school year. I consistently want that my kids give their teacher a little something as a thank you gift. My autistic son has also an escort on his school bus and her present has to rock! He is a teenager now and she has been there for him long time. And for me to keep cherishing her care and kindness to be continued. And a good deed is something I absolutely always teach to my kids as the world would be gone without it. This year I made an altered frame for this sweet lady. Well she better love greens, golden and pinks (inserting a laughing moment!)! But seriously I really hope she will like it as it was made with a great devotion. I was eager to get it looking rich, full of texture and character. At the end of the day it is one altered metal frame but you know how the artistic souls feel, there's huge amount of passion involved in making any piece.

You can tell that I love the Finnabair Metallique Waxes, this time the Vintage Gold. Underneath I used loads of mediums, Metallique Paints and the new Impasto Paint. I bought all the colours (except black and white) to try out. My absolute favourite has to be the Bottle Green. It is such a great retro green! It does indeed peek out in some places. The raspberries are resin ones what I've made some time ago using the mould. The green round pendant has resin too (with black seeds and Flower Soft and alcohol inks). Of course I had to add a lot of metal pieces too. There's also Rusting Powder involved and alcohol inks. You name it, it is mixed media after all. Finishing up with a couple of strings, laces, ribbons ... .

I used Prima Grande Rosette Trim for the inside of the frame. I just cut it apart, dipped these in Sculpture Medium mixed with some paint and after drying sprayed some ink spray on it too. Finishing touches with chalk ink. On the edge is a thick string originated from a shopping bag. That one I dipped into Powertex Transparent so it would not lose its colour.

And this is how it all started after gessoing, you know what, I have one more frame like that for myself, I might just paint it green like on the picture and that's it, as I really enjoy that colour.

Entering my altered frame to Mixed Media Place May Challenge (loved the roses and pinks!)

Also to the Mixed Media Monthly A Year of Choices Challenge. I picked #28 Rustic.

Thanks for popping by,
